One of the projects that I work on is the Burleson Opportunity Fund and we recently received an award.
The fund was created by the 3 entities: the city of Burleson, the Burleson Independent School District, and Hill College in order to give Burleson graduates the opportunity to attend our local community college (Hill College) without the economic barrier of tuition and fees.
The fund began raising money in 2008 and has been able to send over 60 students to college.
The Burleson Opportunity Fund was recently awarded the 2009 Non-Profit Business of the Year award by the Chamber of Commerce!
The fund has been featured in many NLC publications over the past couple years as well as been a topic of conversation at multiple conferences.
