UMANT Partners with Strategic Government Resources

The Urban Management Assistants of North Texas (UMANT) announced today that they have entered into a collaborative initiative with the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) and DFW-based Strategic Government Resources to launch a Next Generation Leadership Series to be held on the campus of NCTCOG as a part of The Institute for Leadership and Change Management.

UMANT President, E.A. Hoppe, noted that NCTCOG and SGR’s Institute for Leadership and Change Management already has an exceptional reputation for providing outstanding training to local governments, and this initiative will build on that foundation in partnership with UMANT to develop next generation leaders for the local government profession at a very inexpensive cost due to the power of collaboration.

Hoppe said that “UMANT has a long history of helping prepare young professionals for senior leadership roles in local government, and our alumni include some of the most influential local government professionals in the region.  This collaboration will build on UMANT’s strong history, and help supplement UMANT’s existing offering of professional development opportunities.  These sessions will provide a consistent monthly professional development opportunity for our members, taking UMANT’s effort in developing these next generation leaders to the next level.  The Institute for Leadership and Change Management is a national pacesetter in the quality of our local government leadership development, with an emphasis upon equipping local government leaders to manage and lead more effectively in a rapidly changing world.”

The Institute for Leadership and Change Management Next Generation Leadership Series is offered as a monthly brownbag luncheon www.umant.com/brownbagwhere leading local government practitioners will provide hands-on insights to help young professionals develop the competencies needed for success as local government managers.  Each luncheon will focus on one of the specific competencies established by the International City Management Association (ICMA) as an essential competency for local government professionals.
